| Old school longboarding event
organized by Craig Beck features racing on replicas of skis used in
the1880's by miners in the northern Sierra. Those races were the origins
of speed skiing with skiers reportedly reaching speeds well over 70mph as
they competed for bags of gold ore. In these modern times, for fun events,
style does count as in the above photo taken at Soda Springs. (photo: Paul

| In 1983 speed skiing was still
a loosely organized sport, this is the only documentation of my run at Silverton
Colorado in 1983. |
One of my favorite spots at
Alpine Meadows is "High Yellow". It has cold northern exposure
snow and is often buffed out by the wind. It also sports a great view of
Lake Tahoe. Obviously I'm no ski model! (photo: Peter Underwood) |
Thumbs up after our successful
descent of Bloody Mountain Couloir just outside of Mammoth Lakes California.
The top is a lung bursting 12,500' above sea level. Mike Brabham was my
partner on this most excellent adventure. |

| Our cousin's son Giovanni
Carmazzi was a 4th round draft pick for the 49ers in 1999. One of
several drafted BEFORE Tom Brady. A shoulder injury kept him from playing,
maybe we'll see him in the coaching ranks sometime! This photo was taken at the 49ers
training camp in Stockton California. (photo: John Carmazzi) |
My magical and mystical day at
Machu Picchu with Huana Picchu over my right shoulder. I hiked
from the Urubamba River far below up to this spot above the main plaza. Eventually I
survived
the incredibly steep and slippery trail to the top of Huana Picchu which
has it own ruins, death defying terraces, and numerous Inca trails -
complete with with steps and a short tunnel carved into the granite. Simply
amazing! |
Tahoe attracts the best skiers
in the world. Of course I'm talking about Alberto Tomba! |

| Once in a great while Donner
Lake will freeze over perfectly as it did here in 199?. I was blown away
as I skated on 6 to 8" of spookily clear ice. Magically suspended above
waters over 400 feet deep it seemed quite scary at first. The snow patches
which were floating during the freezing process were surrounded by the
incredibly transparent medium, literally frozen in time. (photo: Alex) |

Debbie Dutton was the
ski double for Shannon Tweed's character in Hot Dog the Movie, and she
considers herself local Royalty as well - and many agree! Here we are at
the 25th Anniversary party of The Movie in Squaw's Bar One. |

| Costa Rica 2006 - with
my Mother and old college friend James. We had to go twice for the Happy
Hour at Tsunami Sushi in Jaco - it was that good and fun. |
Icer Air 2006 - Held in
the SF Giants ballpark. I'm standing at the top of the jump after the
event. The white ramp/jump is center with the landing "hill"
dropping away out of view. It was quite the spectacle and construction
project. The complete jump was built with scaffolding over the
center field. |
Thanks for looking!
